Nohwet village lies in the southern part of Pynursla town in the ri-war area of Meghalaya. It is an important tourist place in Meghalaya. The distance to Nohwet is about 73 Km from Shillong city. The village is connected with a good motorable road from Pynursla town. Nohwet Village is famous for the production of good quality kwai or areca-nut that is part of Khasi and Jaintia culture.
There are several rivers or wah flowing in the vicinity of the village. The wah Khasmar, wah Jashar, wah larsiang, Umkrem, Umlein, Nongshken converge at a place that can be easily seen from the Nohwet Iartong viewpoint which is a walking distance from the village. The view from the Iartong is not only spectacular but the place generates an amazing echo sound that is clear and distinct.
